AS&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower; Investors Await Tuesdays RBA Decision

On 08 December 2025, at AEDT 12.30 PM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower today, declining by 29.90 points or 0.35% and is currently trading at 8,604.10 levels. Out of 11, 7 sectors are trading lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

The Telecommunication Services and Health Care sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 0.84% and 0.21% in their index values. On the other hand, Utilities and Materials sectors are the top 2 declining sectors, declining 0.95% and 0.93% in their index values.

Liontown Limited (ASX: LTR) and PLS Group Limited (ASX: PLS) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 7.954% and 4.078% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Lynas Rare Earths Limited (ASX: LYC) and Life360 Inc. (ASX: 360) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 5.305% and 5.224% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

  • The Australian share market slipped on Monday as investors stayed cautious ahead of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s interest rate announcement later in the week.

  • Liontown jumped about 8% and PLS climbed more than 4%, with both lithium miners extending their momentum following a UBS upgrade last Friday that boosted confidence in the sector.

  • National Storage REIT rose 1.8% after agreeing to a $4 billion takeover offer from a Brookfield–GIC consortium, which will pay investors $2.86 in cash for each stapled security.

  • DigiCo Infrastructure REIT slipped 1.4% following the appointment of Michael Juniper as its new chief executive, effective immediately. He will also take on the role of managing director of digital infrastructure at HMC Capital.

  • TechnologyOne Limited finished steady, reiterating its confidence in chief financial officer Cale Bennett, who previously worked at scandal-hit Corporate Travel Management from 2019 to 2023, including as global CFO.

  • The Dow Jones closed up by 0.22%, S&P 500 gained by 0.19% and Nasdaq was up by 0.31% in the previous session.

  • Hang Seng is up by 0.10%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.45%.
