Santana Minerals Limited (ASX: SMI) has achieved a pivotal milestone in securing complete freehold ownership of all lands encompassing its Bendigo-Ophir Gold Project in Central Otago, New Zealand. The Company entered a binding agreement to acquire key portions of Bendigo Station, complementing its earlier deal for the adjoining Ardgour Station.
These acquisitions ensure Santana holds full freehold title over areas directly impacted by planned mining and infrastructure developments. The agreements also include extinguishment of a 1.25% net smelter return (NSR) royalty on the first one million ounces of gold from Bendigo and a 1% NSR royalty on Ardgour, significantly enhancing project economics. Additionally, Santana exercised its option to purchase 92 hectares for water supply and infrastructure for NZ$4.75 million. The NZ$50 million Bendigo acquisition remains subject to regulatory and project approvals, with settlement funded from existing cash reserves.
