Metallium Secures Strategic Role in U.S. Gallium & Scandium Supply Chain Using Red-Mud Processing Technology
Metallium Ltd (ASX: MTM) has entered a binding Letter of Intent with ElementUSA to collaborate on recovering gallium and scandium from industrial red-mud waste in Louisiana. Through its U.S. subsidiary, Flash Metals USA Inc., Metallium will deploy its Flash Joule Heating (FJH) technology to support ElementUSA’s development of a demonstration facility at the Gramercy alumina refinery. The agreement provides Metallium with up to US$10.1 million in non-dilutive funding across pilot and scale-up phases.
The collaboration establishes a long-term commercial framework involving technology licence fees, processing royalties, and revenue sharing from metals recovered using Metallium’s technology. With more than 30 million tonnes of potential feedstock and access to strategic infrastructure, Metallium is positioned to evolve into a revenue-generating critical-metals processor with significant expansion potential across U.S. markets.
