Variscan Mines Limited Strengthens Exploration Pipeline with Guajaraz Drill Campaign
Variscan Mines Limited (ASX: VAR) is preparing to commence its maiden diamond drilling programme at the Guajaraz zinc-polymetallic project in central Spain, marking an important step in expanding its exploration activities beyond the flagship Novales-Udías project. The campaign comprises five priority drill holes covering approximately 1,430 metres, targeting deeper zinc-rich mineralisation together with lead, silver and copper potential identified through geological mapping, geochemical surveys and deep ground penetrating radar studies. Historical sampling has demonstrated encouraging polymetallic potential, including copper grades of up to 0.9% and silver values of up to 278 ppm.
The programme is designed to evaluate down-dip extensions of known mineralisation, investigate previously untested structural targets and assess carbonate-hosted replacement-style zinc systems while avoiding historical underground workings. In addition to strengthening the company’s exploration pipeline, the drilling campaign satisfies operational requirements needed to secure a three-year extension of the Guajaraz tenement, supporting Variscan’s broader development strategy across its Spanish base metals portfolio.
