Other Factors influencing the market:

  • Seek Ltd (ASX: SEK) climbed 8% to $27.72 after reporting stronger-than-expected revenue for FY25. The result came despite a drop in job listings, as higher pricing helped offset the decline and outperformed analyst forecasts.
  • Sims Ltd (ASX: SGM) slipped 5.7% to $14.43, with the company citing weaker demand, uncertainty around trade policies, the impact of US tariffs, and oversupply of Chinese steel in the market.
  • Reliance Worldwide Corporation (ASX: RWC) fell 6.7% to $4.29 even though it posted a 13.5% rise in full-year net profit to US$125 million. The earnings lift was supported by the first full-year contribution from Holman Industries and continued cost efficiencies.
  • HMC Capital (ASX: HMC) dropped 6.6% to $32.27 after cautioning investors about softer growth prospects in the upcoming year.
  • Meanwhile, oil prices edged higher as a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dampened hopes of a swift resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
  • On Wall Street, trading ended mixed: the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.08%, the S&P 500 eased 0.01%, while the NASDAQ Composite added 0.03%.
