ASX/200 Closer Higher by 0.70%, Lifted by Information Technology

By the end of the trading session on 15 July 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed higher by 0.70% and settled at 8,630.30. Out of the 11 sectors, 10 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Information Technology and Healthcare are the top-gaining sector, gaining 2.16% and 2.04% in their it’s value. On the other hand, Materials is the top-losing sector, losing 0.28% in its index value.

Life360 Inc. (ASX: 360) and Paladin Energy Limited (ASX: PDN) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 7.968% and 7.854% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Pilbara Minerals Limited (ASX: LIC) and Nufarm Limited (ASX: NUF) are the top-losing stocks, losing 4.546% and 2.881% in their stock prices.

  • Shares in outdoor advertising company oOh!media (ASX: OML) edged up 1.7% to $1.76, even after receiving confirmation from the Auckland Transport Authority that its contract, set to expire at the end of September, would not be renewed.
  • Tyro Payments (ASX: TYR) initially plunged more than 10% in early trade, but pared back losses to finish the day down 2.7% at 90 cents. The decline followed a decision by the Reserve Bank to prohibit surcharges on all debit and credit card transactions processed through eftpos, Mastercard, and Visa.
  • Paladin Energy (ASX: PDN) jumped 7.9% to $7.69 after Bell Potter Securities reaffirmed its "buy" rating and lifted its short-term price target from $6.50 to $9.20, suggesting a potential upside of over 20%.
  • Some of the world’s largest ETF providers are positioning for a continued Bitcoin rally over the next 12 months, as institutional interest grows and U.S. regulators show increasing support for digital assets.
  • Oil prices fell for a second straight session after U.S. President Donald Trump introduced measures targeting Russia that stopped short of directly restricting its energy exports.
  • In market movements: Dow Jones rose 0.20%, S&P 500 gained 0.14% and NASDAQ Composite edged up 0.27%
  • Hang Seng climbed 0.92% and FTSE 100 advanced 0.64%
