By the end of the trading session on 30 April 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed higher by 0.69% and settled at 8,126.20. Out of the 11 sectors, 07 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Information Technology and A-REIT are the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.64% and 1.52% in their index values. On the other hand, Utilities and Energy are the top-losing sector, losing 1.48% and 0.51% in their index value.

Pexa Group Limited (ASX: PXA) and Lendlease Group (ASX: LLC) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 5.414% and 3.937% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Liontown Resources Limited (ASX: NST) and Paladin Energy Limited (ASX: PDN) are the top-losing stocks, losing 7.895% and 4.405% in their stock prices.

  • Shares of Northern Star Resources continued their downward trend into Wednesday as the company reduced its production guidance for FY25, attributing the revision to rising maintenance costs and increased royalty expenses.
  • Meanwhile, crude oil prices declined amid mounting concerns over global trade tensions and softening economic data from the United States, which cast doubts over future demand.
  • On the international markets, Wall Street ended with moderate gains—Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.75%, the S&P 500 added 0.58%, and the NASDAQ rose by 0.55%.
  • Elsewhere, the Hang Seng Index advanced 0.32%, and the FTSE 100 gained 0.55% at the time of writing.
