Perseus Mining Delivers Record FY26 Performance
Perseus Mining Limited (ASX: PRU) delivered a strong financial and operational performance in FY26, according to its announcement released on 26 August 2026. The gold producer reported substantial growth in profitability and cash generation while continuing to advance its African development pipeline.The company's shares were trading at AU$6.645, up AU$0.215 or 3.343% today, highlighting a positive market response to the latest developments.Revenue reached approximately US$1.5 billion, while gross profit from operations increased 41% to US$861 million. Profit before tax rose 27% to US$744 million, and basic earnings per share improved 17% to 31.73 cents per share. Operating cash flow increased 24% to US$666 million, supported by higher realised gold prices and disciplined operating performance.
Higher Gold Prices Strengthen Cash Generation
Perseus produced 404,998 ounces of gold during FY26, lower than the previous year, but benefited significantly from a stronger gold price environment. The average gold sale price rose to US$3,693 per ounce, while the company's cash margin increased to US$1,943 per ounce.This helped lift notional cash flow to US$769 million and increased net cash and bullion by US$207 million to US$1.034 billion. Total liquidity stood at US$1.434 billion, including US$400 million in undrawn debt facilities.
Major Resource Growth Supports Future Production
The company's growth profile strengthened considerably, with group Ore Reserves rising 40% to 7.0 million ounces. Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources grew by 37%, reaching 10.64 million ounces, strengthening Perseus Mining’s resource base and supporting its long-term growth outlook.
Meanwhile, development at the Nyanzaga Gold Project remains on schedule, with first gold targeted for January 2027. Construction progress had reached 67%, with US$311 million in construction costs incurred by the end of FY26.
Shareholder Returns Take Centre Stage
Perseus announced a new dividend policy targeting a minimum of 20% of operating cash flow. The FY26 final dividend was set at AU$0.09 per share, taking the full-year dividend to AU$0.14 per share. The company also increased its FY27 share buyback program to AU$350 million and plans to determine a proposed AU$100 million special distribution in the coming months.
FY27 Outlook
Looking ahead, Perseus Mining expects to maintain a strong production profile in FY27, with gold output forecast between 420,000 and 480,000 ounces. The company is also preparing for another significant period of investment as it advances the Nyanzaga Gold Project and continues exploration and mine development activities across its portfolio. Nyanzaga is expected to be a key priority in FY27, with development activities continuing as the project moves closer to completion. First gold production is currently anticipated in January 2027.The project is expected to become an important contributor to Perseus Mining's longer-term production pipeline and geographic diversification. The company enters FY27 with a substantial financial position, including US$1.034 billion in net cash and bullion and total liquidity of US$1.434 billion at the end of FY26.
