Can Mayne Pharma’s New ASX Women’s Health Deal Strengthen Its Australian Growth Pipeline?

Can Mayne Pharma’s New ASX Women’s Health Deal Strengthen Its Australian Growth Pipeline? Source: Kapitales Research

Highlights

  • Mayne Pharma secured exclusive Australian rights to Blissel® under a five-year licence agreement.
  • Australia’s topical vaginal estrogen market was approximately AU$27 million in 2025, with a two-year CAGR of 16%.
  • Blissel® is targeted for an FY28 launch using Mayne Pharma’s existing women’s health commercial infrastructure.

Mayne Pharma Expands Women’s Health PortfolioMayne Pharma Group Limited (ASX: MYX) announced that it had completed an exclusive licensing agreement with global specialty pharmaceutical company Italfarmaco S.A. for Blissel® in Australia. The announcement comes as MYX shares trade at a current market price (CMP) of AU$3.050, down 0.326%.

The five-year arrangement gives Mayne Pharma exclusive Australian rights to register, market and distribute Blissel®, an ultra-low-dose estriol vaginal gel used to treat vaginal atrophy associated with menopause. The company will hold the Australian marketing authorisation and manage all commercialisation activities, while Italfarmaco will retain beneficial ownership and continue to oversee manufacturing. Why Blissel® Matters for Mayne Pharma?Blissel® contains estriol at a concentration of 50 micrograms per gram and is formulated as a vaginal mucoadhesive gel. According to Mayne Pharma, the product has almost negligible systemic absorption and there are currently no registered ultra-low-dose or gel estriol formulations in Australia.

The addition broadens Mayne Pharma’s Australian women’s health offering alongside NEXTSTELLIS®. Importantly, the company plans to commercialise Blissel® through its existing women’s health team, potentially allowing it to expand the portfolio without requiring a substantial new commercial platform.AU$27 Million Market Offers Growth OpportunityThe commercial backdrop appears supportive. Mayne Pharma estimates that Australia’s market for topical vaginal estrogen menopause hormone therapies was approximately AU$27 million in 2025. The category recorded a two-year compound annual growth rate of 16%.

Management links this expansion to stronger clinical recognition of treatable menopause symptoms, Australia’s ageing population and a greater willingness among patients to seek treatment. These trends could provide a favourable demand environment as Blissel® approaches commercialisation.FY28 Launch Provides the Next MilestoneMayne Pharma is targeting an Australian launch in FY28 through its established commercial team. Management expects the product to develop into a meaningful contributor to the international segment’s sales mix over subsequent years.

The agreement includes upfront signing and regulatory milestone payments, additional one-off sales milestones capped at EUR300,000 in aggregate as net sales increase, and an ongoing royalty linked to net sales, subject to an agreed floor price.Existing Infrastructure Could Support Efficient ExpansionA notable feature of the agreement is its fit with Mayne Pharma’s established operating footprint. The company already has commercial capabilities in Australian women’s health, meaning Blissel® can potentially leverage existing prescriber and pharmacy relationships rather than requiring a separate sales network.

This creates an opportunity for incremental portfolio growth while limiting the need for a material expansion in the cost base. However, the commercial contribution remains dependent on regulatory progress, launch execution and eventual product adoption. What Could Drive MYX Shares Next? The Blissel® agreement expands Mayne Pharma’s exposure to a growing Australian menopause treatment category while adding another product to its women’s health portfolio. The AU$27 million addressable market and 16% two-year growth rate provide a constructive industry backdrop, while the planned use of existing infrastructure may support operating efficiency.

With MYX trading at AU$3.050 after declining 0.326%, investor attention could now centre on regulatory milestones, progress toward the FY28 launch and the eventual contribution of Blissel® to International sales. The agreement adds longer-term commercial optionality, although meaningful financial benefits are likely to depend on successful registration, market uptake and disciplined execution.Note- All data presented is based on information available at the time of writing.Disclaimer for Kapitales ResearchThe materials provided by Kapitales Research, including articles, news, data, reports, opinions, images, charts, and videos ("Content"), are intended for personal, non-commercial use only.
