Birdwood BESS Contract Expands Renewable Pipeline

GenusPlus Group Limited (ASX: GNP) announced on 14 September 2026 that it had secured a contract to deliver a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System for Birdwood Energy Reserve in Wodonga, Victoria. The project will provide 400 MW / 1.86 GWh of storage capacity and carries an approximate contract value of AU$160 million. Genus will undertake balance-of-plant works spanning civil, structural and electrical infrastructure, high-voltage connections, control systems and commissioning. Completion is targeted for late 2028.

S&P/ASX 300 Inclusion Adds Market Visibility

On 4 September 2026, S&P Dow Jones Indices announced that GenusPlus would join the S&P/ASX 300 Index as part of its September quarterly rebalance. The change became effective before trading commenced on 21 September 2026. The index addition places GenusPlus within a broader benchmark followed by Australian institutional and passive investment strategies.

TasNetworks Project Moves Into Construction

Genus advised on 31 August 2026 that TasNetworks had issued a Notice to Proceed for Stage 1 of the North West Transmission Developments project. Construction was scheduled to begin immediately, with completion expected in 2029. The overall project is valued at approximately AU$750 million, including previously announced Early Contractor Involvement and Early Works Agreements worth AU$122 million.

FY26 Results Show Strong Financial Expansion

Earlier, on 25 August 2026, GenusPlus released its FY26 financial results for the year ended 30 June 2026. Revenue increased 70.5% to AU$1.281 billion, while normalised EBITDA advanced 49.7% to AU$100.8 million. Net profit after tax rose 38.6% to AU$49.0 million, compared to AU$35.4 million in FY25. Cash at bank reached AU$476 million, while net cash increased to AU$399.3 million.

The Board also declared a fully franked final dividend of 3.6 cents per share, with payment scheduled for 30 October 2026. Management expects FY26 momentum, renewable-energy investment and transmission opportunities to support further medium-term growth.
