Highlights:

  • Gold production reached 92,551 ounces in the September 2026 quarter, exceeding the company's internal expectations.
  • Cash and bullion totalled US$900 million at quarter-end, supported by zero debt and US$338 million in listed investments.
  • The company maintained its FY27 production guidance of 420,000–480,000 ounces, while the Nyanzaga Gold Project advanced towards its targeted first gold production in January 2027.

Strong Quarterly Performance Supports FY27 Outlook

Perseus Mining Limited (ASX: PRU) reported solid operating results for the September 2026 quarter in its announcement dated 27 October 2026. The gold producer delivered 92,551 ounces of gold at an all-in site cost (AISC) of US$2,035 per ounce, with production exceeding expectations across its operating portfolio. The company sold 99,661 ounces of gold at an average realised price of US$3,881 per ounce. It recorded an average cash margin of US$1,846 per ounce produced, generating US$171 million in estimated operating cash flow for the quarter. Perseus Mining Limited was trading at AU$5.900, up AU$0.480 or 8.86%, according to the supplied market data.

Despite the strong production result, quarterly output was below the preceding June quarter, when gold production reached 109,013 ounces. The September quarter also recorded higher AISC, partly reflecting increased processing costs associated with planned maintenance across the company's operations.

Individual Mines Deliver Mixed Results

At the Yaouré Gold Mine in Côte d’Ivoire, production reached 36,648 ounces, including 9,658 ounces from the CMA Underground operation. Commercial production at the underground mine commenced on 1 July 2026. Output is expected to increase during the second half of FY27 as higher-grade open-pit ore becomes available and underground production expands.

Ghana's Edikan Gold Mine produced 35,830 ounces, while the Sissingué Gold Complex in Côte d’Ivoire contributed 20,073 ounces. Both operations experienced lower production than in the previous quarter, reflecting changes in mined grades, processing volumes and planned maintenance activities.

The company retained its FY27 production forecast of 420,000–480,000 ounces, with group AISC expected to range between US$1,835 and US$2,070 per ounce. These estimates are based on management's stated operating assumptions.

Nyanzaga Project Advances Towards First Gold

Development of the Nyanzaga Gold Project in Tanzania reached 88.4% completion by 30 September 2026. Perseus reported US$407.6 million in construction capital and operational-readiness expenditure against an approved budget of US$483 million.

The project remained on budget and schedule, with first gold targeted for January 2027. Construction milestones included progress on the processing plant, power infrastructure, tailings storage facility and pre-production mining activities.

Strong Balance Sheet and Shareholder Returns

Perseus ended the quarter with US$900 million in cash and bullion and no debt. Its listed investments were valued at US$338 million, providing additional financial resources for planned growth. The company also highlighted a proposed special distribution of approximately AU$100 million and an enlarged FY27 share buyback of AU$350 million, building on its record of returning capital to shareholders. Overall, Perseus entered FY27 with production above its quarterly plan, a substantial cash position and continued progress on its growth projects. Delivery against annual guidance and the planned Nyanzaga start-up will remain important milestones for the company.
