SHAPE Australia Expands FY26 Earnings as Data Centres Transform Revenue Mix

SHAPE Australia Expands FY26 Earnings as Data Centres Transform Revenue Mix Source: Kapitales Research

Highlights

  • Stronger margins helped profit growth exceed revenue gains, putting project discipline in focus.
  • Data centres and modular construction expanded sharply, changing SHAPE’s traditional business mix.
  • Dividends increased, while converting a substantial opportunity pipeline remains the next challenge.

Broader Operations Lift Earnings

SHAPE Australia Corporation Limited (ASX: SHA) announced its full-year financial results on 19 August 2026, reporting stronger earnings for the year ended 30 June 2026. Growth outside its established office fitout business helped lift annual revenue above AU$1.2 billion.

Revenue increased approximately 30%, compared to AU$956.9 million in FY25. Profitability grew more quickly, with net profit after tax rising 50% to AU$31.7 million.

The difference between revenue and earnings growth reflected better margins. Gross margin reached 9.8%, compared to 9.2%, as disciplined contract selection and cost management supported returns.

Construction Mix Shifts

A substantial increase in data centre activity marked a significant change in SHAPE’s revenue composition. The segment contributed AU$109.1 million, compared to AU$0.5 million in FY25.

Modular by SHAPE recorded revenue of AU$74.1 million, increasing 228%, compared to AU$22.6 million. Expansion into education and aged care provided additional avenues for business growth.

Office revenue also increased, but faster expansion elsewhere reduced its share of total revenue to 43%, compared to 60%. Consequently, the company’s income became more evenly spread across different markets. Australian Professional Shopfitters joined the group on 1 July 2026, extending its offering in national retail rollouts and facilities maintenance.

Dividend Reflects Stronger Performance

Shareholders were allocated a fully franked final dividend of AU$0.18 per share, taking total FY26 declared dividends to AU$0.32 per share, up 42%.

SHAPE secured AU$1.3 billion in project wins, increasing 37%. Existing customers accounted for 85% of projects during the year, demonstrating the importance of repeat business.

Outlook Depends on Execution

Entering FY27, SHAPE held backlog orders of AU$628.4 million alongside an identified opportunity pipeline of approximately AU$4.8 billion.

Management intends to expand across sectors and regions while assessing complementary acquisitions. The pipeline provides potential for additional work, although these opportunities are not secured contracts. Preserving margins and delivering projects effectively will remain central to translating expansion into sustained earnings.
