Outstanding Portfolio Performance

WAM Active Limited (ASX: WAA) has reported a significant increase in the performance of its investment portfolio, achieving a 41.4% return in the 12 months to 31 December 2025. The company also posted a 31.4% return for the six-month period to the same date. These results come as a direct consequence of the company’s strategic stock selections and the advantages gained from dynamic portfolio adjustments.

The company’s investment portfolio has significantly outperformed both the Bloomberg AusBond Bank Bill Index (Cash) and the S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Accumulation Index over the past 12 and 6 months. The portfolio outperformed the Bloomberg AusBond index by 37.4% and 29.6%, respectively, and outperformed the S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Index by 30.8% and 27.0%, respectively.

Dividend Increase

The strong portfolio performance has enabled WAM Active to increase its fully franked interim dividend to 3.2 cents per share, with an additional special dividend of 1.0 cents per share. The dividend increase reflects an annualised fully franked interim dividend yield of 6.5% and a grossed-up yield of 9.3%, which includes the value of franking credits.

Since its inception, WAM Active has distributed 104.7 cents per share in fully franked dividends, and with franking credits included, the total payout reaches 149.6 cents per share. The strong dividend payout demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing regular income to shareholders while maintaining a focus on capital preservation and growth.

Strategic Portfolio Adjustments

WAM Active’s investment strategy has been marked by increased portfolio turnover over the past six months, enabling the team to take advantage of shifting market opportunities. The company has rotated its positions towards precious and base metals, which are expected to perform well as global economic conditions improve, particularly as the US reduces interest rates and global growth picks up.

The company’s portfolio has been actively managed to cushion downside risks, with a focus on key sectors and assets that are well-positioned for growth in the near term. Despite cautious performance from recent IPOs, WAM Active remains optimistic about the market outlook and the opportunities that may arise over time.

Outlook for 2026

Looking ahead to 2026, WAM Active’s team is focused on identifying and capitalising on market opportunities. The company’s flexible investment strategy, combined with expertise in market trends and corporate activity, positions WAM Active to continue delivering strong performance for its investors. Technical site visits, earnings updates, and merger and acquisition activity are expected to drive future returns.

The company’s dynamic portfolio construction, along with its continued commitment to delivering solid returns, ensures that WAM Active remains well-placed to take advantage of both global and domestic market conditions as they evolve.
