Titanium Sands Advances Sri Lankan Heavy Mineral Project with IML Application
Titanium Sands Limited (ASX: TSL) has lodged an Industrial Mining License (IML) application for its Mannar Heavy Minerals Project in Northwest Sri Lanka. The project, which holds a Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 318 million tonnes at 4.17% Total Heavy Mineral (THM), is one of the most significant heavy mineral deposits in Sri Lanka. The first-stage high-grade zone, consisting of 82 million tonnes at 6.03% THM, forms the basis for initial development. Environmental studies and community consultations are progressing, with key reports expected by Q1 CY26. The project benefits from existing infrastructure with direct access to major ports in Colombo and Trincomalee, facilitating efficient export potential. The IML application represents a significant milestone in the project’s path to production, with the company also engaging with stakeholders to finalize land access agreements and other permitting requirements.
