Weebit Nano Shares Rise After Company Reaffirms Funding Strength
Source: Kapitales Research
Highlights
Weebit Nano rejected recent media commentary suggesting its bankruptcy risk had increased due to research and development spending.
The company reported AU$168.34 million in cash at 30 June 2026 after strengthening its balance sheet through AU$102 million of equity funding during FY26.
Management said its funding position supports continued ReRAM development, commercialisation initiatives, customer programs and artificial intelligence solutions.
Weebit Nano Pushes Back Against Recent Media Commentary
Weebit Nano Ltd (ASX: WBT) announced on 7 October 2026 in response to recent media commentary concerning its financial position. The semiconductor memory technology developer rejected suggestions that its bankruptcy risk had risen because of significant research and development expenditure. Weebit Nano shares were trading at a CMP of AU$3.480, gaining 1.754%, as investors assessed the company’s response and its latest financial position.
The clarification followed a comment broadcast on ABC News Day radio on 6 October 2026, which referred to analysts allegedly indicating that the company’s bankruptcy risk had increased as it spent substantial amounts on research and development. Weebit Nano said it was unaware of analysts making such assessments and instead highlighted its financial resources and continuing investment in technology development.
Cash Position Remains a Key Focus
According to the company’s FY26 fourth-quarter activities report, Weebit Nano held AU$168.34 million in cash at 30 June 2026. Net cash used in operating activities for the 12 months ended 30 June 2026 stood at AU$18.4 million. The company also strengthened its funding base during FY26 by raising AU$102 million. This comprised AU$87 million through institutional placements and another AU$15 million through a Share Purchase Plan. Management believes these funds provide adequate financial capacity to advance its Resistive RAM, or ReRAM, technology and pursue commercialisation opportunities.
ReRAM Commercialisation Remains Central to Strategy
Weebit Nano develops and licenses non-volatile semiconductor memory technology designed to deliver improved speed, energy efficiency and reliability compared with conventional flash-memory solutions. Its ReRAM technology targets applications including artificial intelligence, Internet of Things devices, automotive systems, industrial automation, robotics and wearable technology. Chief Executive Officer Coby Hanoch said the company’s recent capital raising and cash position provide the resources needed to execute its growth strategy,
including supporting customers as their products move closer to mass production and potential royalty generation. He also pointed to recent share purchases by himself and Chairman Dadi Perlmutter as evidence of confidence in the company’s direction.
Outlook for WBT Shares
The latest announcement places attention back on Weebit Nano’s liquidity, commercial execution and progress toward generating royalties from customer adoption. With a substantial cash balance and fresh capital raised during FY26, the immediate financial position appears materially stronger than suggested by the disputed commentary. Investors are likely to focus next on commercial milestones, customer progress and the pace at which ReRAM moves toward broader production deployment.
