ASX 200 Ended Higher By 0.77%; 9 Out Of 11 Sectors Closed Higher

By the end of the trading session on 24 June 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.77% and settled at 6,578.70. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors closed higher along with the gain in the ASX 200.



The Information Technology and Telecommunication Services sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained 6.00% and 2.66% in their index values. On the other hand, the Energy and Materials sectors were the top 2 losing sectors, declined 1.45% and 0.14% in their index values.



Life360 Inc (ASX: 360) and Zip Co Limited (ASX: ZIP) were the top gainers with 24.896% and 21.590% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (ASX: URW) and Ampol Limited (ASX: ALD) were the top losers, with a 3.704% and 2.615% drop in share prices, respectively.

  • The Information Technology sector gained 6.00% following a 1.6% gain in the tech-heavy NASDAQ in the previous session. The sector is being led by gains in Life360, up 24.896%, Megaport gained 15.942%, and NOVONIX 13.488% higher.

  • Lithium stocks have also rebounded from a horrid session on Thursday. Lake Resources surged 14.99%, Liontown up 10.79%, and Pilbara Minerals 8.78%.

  • Australian bond yields slumped in early trading on Friday, after Treasuries, as weak economic data from Europe to the U.S. added to growing recessionary fears.

  • Crude futures entered into sell mode after disappointing U.S. manufacturing and services purchasing managers indexes and a downswing in Germany's manufacturing data.

  • Energy and Materials stocks continued to decline, with commodity prices continuing to deflate amid rising concerns about a recession.

  • Dow has closed up by 0.6%, S&P 500 up by 1.0%, and NASDAQ closed higher by 1.6%.

  • Hang Seng is up by 2.14%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.97%.
