Market Alert : Crude Oil Prices Decline on Easing Geopolitical Risk and Emerging Supply Expectations

ASX 200 moved up over 1.2%; Financial sector was the top gainer

By the end of the day’s trade on 14 March 2022, ASX 200 moved up by 1.215% from its previous close and settled at 7149.4. 10 out of 11 sectors on ASX ended in the green zone, probably driven by the news related to the progress in Russia Ukraine peace talk even as the fighting between the two nations continues to rage.



Further, there was a drop in the oil prices per barrel on Monday as there is an update from Ukraine that the discussion with Russia is turning constructive.



On the other hand, the investors seem to be a little worried about US Federal Reserve starting to increase the interest rate. The investors’ focus appears to be gradually shifting to the upcoming FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting held this week. There is a fear of strengthening the US dollar, impacting commodity prices in the coming period. However, post the meeting on 15 and 16 March 2022, the outcome related to interest rate hike would come concerning increase interest rate or not.



On 14 March 2022, the Financial and health care sector was the top gainers on ASC, delivering growth of 2.457% and 2.159%, respectively. The financial sector gained 6.41% in the last five days. On the other hand, the materials sector was the top loser, with a drop of 0.344% in the index value.
