By the end of trading session on 25 August 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.06% higher at 8,972.40. Out of 11 sectors, 05 sectors finished in positive territory.

Materials and Energy are the top-gaining sector, gaining 2.72% and 1.12% in their it’s value. On the other hand, Financial and Consumer Discretionary was the top-losing sector, losing 1.18% and 0.91% in it’s value.

Megaport Limited Limited (ASX: MP1) and Digico Infrastructure REIT (ASX: DGT) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 13.239% and 10.877% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Reece Limited (ASX: REH) and EVT Limited (ASX: EVT) are the top-losing stocks, losing 16.418% and 14.703% in their stock prices.

  • Investigations software firm Nuix Limited (ASX: NXL) dropped 5% to $2.06 after posting a $9.2 million full-year loss, driven by rising legal expenses and fewer multi-year contracts, compared with a $5 million profit a year earlier.
  • Oil prices held steady in Asian trading on Monday after strong weekly gains, supported by fading hopes of a swift Russia-Ukraine ceasefire and dovish signals from the US Federal Reserve pointing to a possible rate cut next month.
  • On international exchanges, Wall Street ended mixed with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.89%, the S&P 500 higher by 1.52%, and the NASDAQ Composite gaining 1.88%. 
  • Meanwhile, the Hang Seng climbed 1.91%, and London’s FTSE 100 edged up 0.13% today.
