By the end of the trading session on 13 June 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed lower by 0.21% and settled at 8,547.40. Out of the 11 sectors, 08 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Energy and Utilities is the top-gaining sector, gaining 4.70% and 4.23% in their it’s value. On the other hand, Information Technology and Healthcare is the top-losing sector, losing 1.22% and 0.91% in its index value.

Karoon Energy Limited (ASX: KAR) and Woodside Energy Group Limited (ASX: WDS) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 10.893% and 7.413% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Clarity Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: CU6) and Polynovo Limited (ASX: PNV) are the top-losing stocks, losing 7.693% and 6.720% in their stock prices.

  • Gold prices surged as investors sought safety, with the metal trading just US$60 shy of its all-time high of US$3500 per ounce.
  • Oil prices climbed sharply after Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, heightening concerns about potential conflict in a region responsible for one-third of the world’s crude oil supply.
  • U.S. markets closed higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.24%, the S&P 500 climbing 0.38%, and the NASDAQ Composite advancing 0.24%.
  • In contrast, the Hang Seng Index dropped 0.89%, and the FTSE 100 declined by 0.41%.
