By the end of trading session on 26 August 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.41% lower at 8,935.60. Out of 11 sectors, 08 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Consumer Staples and Energy are the top-gaining sector, gaining 3.20% and 1.12% in their it’s value. On the other hand, Materials and Utilities was the top-losing sector, losing 1.20% and 1.02% in it’s value.

NUIX Limited (ASX: NXL) and Boss Energy Limited (ASX: BOE) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 13.239% and 10.877% in their stock prices. On the other hand, IMDEX Limited (ASX: IMD) and Reece Limited (ASX: REH) are the top-losing stocks, losing 13.995% and 7.398% in their stock prices.

  • Endeavour Group slipped 1.9% after posting a 17% drop in full-year net profit to $426 million, coming in below market expectations.
  • Regal Partners shed 3% as its half-year results showed a 24% fall in normalised net profit to $44.81 million, while total net income held steady at $148.4 million.
  • Nuix Limited (ASX: NXL) plunged 8.5% after reporting a full-year loss of $9.2 million, weighed down by rising legal expenses and a slowdown in multi-year customer contracts. This compared with a $5 million profit in the prior year.
  • Imdex Limited (ASX: IMD) tumbled 14% to $2.95 after analysts at Barrenjoey cut their rating to “neutral,” while Jarden downgraded it further to “sell.”
  • Oil prices eased following a four-day rally as traders awaited clarity on supply trends and digested the broader market impact of President Donald Trump’s dismissal of a Federal Reserve governor.
  • On global markets, Wall Street closed mixed—the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.77%, the S&P 500 gained 0.43%, while the NASDAQ Composite edged down 0.22%. 
  • Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 0.69% in today’s trade.
