ASX/200 Closed Lower by 0.48%, Dragged down by Healthcare
By the end of trading session on 28 October 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.48% lower at 9,012.50. Out of 11 sectors, 05 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.
Consumer Discretionary and Financial were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.68% and 1.32% in their values. On the other hand, Healthcare and Information Technology were the top-losing sectors, losing 7.40% and 3.16% in their values.
Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (ASX: DMP) and Eagers Automotive Limited (ASX: APE) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 7.184% and 6.302% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Wisetech Global Limited (ASX: WTC) and CSL Limited (ASX: CSL) are the top-losing stocks, losing 15.879% and 15.874% in their stock prices.
AUB Group Limited (ASX: AUB) shares climbed 5.9% to AU$38.10 after the company announced it had received an unsolicited takeover approach from Swedish private equity giant EQT AB.
Liontown Resources Limited (ASX: LTR) tumbled 12.8% to AU$1.10 after revealing it spent AU$44 million during the September quarter, eroding a portion of the AU$266 million raised in August to help the company navigate ongoing weakness in the lithium market.
Flight Centre Travel Group Limited (ASX: FLT) eased nearly 1% to AU$12.24 despite confirming the sale of its Cross Hotels business to a South Korean hospitality operator for an undisclosed amount.
Copper prices hovered roughly US$100 below record highs as traders weighed signs of easing trade tensions between the United States and China, which have brightened the demand outlook for the industrial metal.
Oil markets continued to soften, on track for a third consecutive monthly decline, amid mounting concerns of oversupply as OPEC+ members and rival producers ramp up output.
On the global markets front, investor sentiment improved overnight — the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.01%, the S&P 500 added 0.79%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.15%.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index slipped 0.40%, while London’s FTSE 100 edged 0.09% higher in today’s session.
