A-REIT and Utilities sectors were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.78% and 1.24% respectively in their index values. On the other hand, Industrials and Consumer Staples sectors were the top-lossing sectors, lossing 0.18% and 0.13% respectively in their index values.
Healius Limited (ASX: HLS) and Goodman Group Limited (ASX: GMG) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 6.521% and 4.137% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Block Inc. (ASX: SQ2) and Audinate Group Limited (ASX: AD8) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 9.276% and 4.833% in their stock prices.
Fortescue Metals witnessed a 2.6% increase, reaching $26.32, while BHP saw a rise of 0.8%, reaching $42.75.
Brent crude oil rose above $83 a barrel after experiencing a significant drop of over 7% the previous week, marking its largest decline since February. Ampol's shares increased by 0.8% to $35.58 on Monday.
Major banks, including Westpac, experienced gains, with Westpac leading the pack with a 2.7% surge to $27.12. This increase followed the announcement of a $1 billion share buyback and a special dividend in its interim results.
Australia's share market is anticipated to surpass 8000 points by the end of the year, driven by robust economic growth that continues to surpass expectations of investors and strategists.
The Dow closed with a 1.18% increase, the S&P 500 with a 1.26% rise, and the NASDAQ with a higher by 1.99%.
The Hang Seng index recorded a 0.40% increase, while the FTSE 100 index saw a 0.51% rise today.
