Anthropic IPO: How Australian Investors Could Get Exposure, and Which ASX Stocks Are Linked to the AI Build-Out

Anthropic IPO: How Australian Investors Could Get Exposure, and Which ASX Stocks Are Linked to the AI Build-Out Source: Kapitales Research

Highlights

  • Anthropic's S-1 registration statement went to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 26 October 2026, naming Nasdaq as the proposed venue and ANT as the proposed ticker.

  • Reuters reported first-half 2026 revenue of about US$16.3 billion and a net loss of about US$80.7 billion.

  • IG Australia said on 29 October 2026 that eligible customers can buy one Anthropic share soon after the first day of trading.

Introduction

Anthropic, PBC, the AI developer behind the Claude models, has filed to list on Nasdaq under the proposed ticker ANT. The registration is not yet effective, so no shares trade yet, and Anthropic has not set a price range or share count. Press reports talk about a debut some time after the 3 November US midterm elections and ahead of Thanksgiving on 26 November. Anthropic has not confirmed a date.

This article sets out what is public so far, how Australian investors could get access, and which ASX-listed companies describe exposure to AI infrastructure demand. It does not forecast the outcome of the listing.

What the Filing Shows So Far

The Form S-1 covers Class A common stock and proposes the Nasdaq Global Select Market. The ticker is proposed and could still change.

Reuters reported first-half 2026 revenue of about US$16.3 billion and a net loss of about US$80.7 billion. According to Built In's summary of the filing, about US$72 billion of that loss came from non-cash adjustments tied to convertible notes, while the operating loss was about US$690 million and operating cash flow was positive at US$3.9 billion.

Anthropic's last private round, a Series H in May 2026, valued it at US$965 billion. Reports have discussed IPO valuation expectations of US$1.5 trillion to US$2 trillion, but Anthropic has not set a price range, so those figures are unconfirmed. Built In also reported that a Class F share structure lets seven co-founders keep 50.1% of voting power after the IPO.

How Australian Investors Could Get Exposure

Anthropic would list on Nasdaq, not the ASX. Before listing, shares cannot be bought on an exchange, and an Admiral Markets guide from September 2026 noted that pre-IPO deals are mostly open to accredited or professional investors and that Anthropic has warned unapproved share transfers may be void.

Finder.com.au outlines three routes for Australians: a retail allocation in the offering, which is often limited; buying through an Australian broker with US market access once trading starts; or ASX-listed ETFs that hold Nasdaq, technology or AI exposure.

On 29 October 2026, IG Australia said each eligible customer can buy one Anthropic share at the lower of the final IPO price and the price IG pays. IG buys the share after trading begins and makes it available soon after the first day. Eligibility is limited to people opening a new IG Trading share account and existing IG customers who have not made a trade yet, and IG's terms apply.

ASX Stocks With Disclosed AI Infrastructure Exposure

Anthropic is not an ASX stock, but several ASX-listed companies describe exposure to the data centre and compute demand behind AI. The figures below come from their own recent reports and are not an assessment of any link to Anthropic.

NEXTDC (ASX: NXT) reported in its FY26 results, lodged on 27 August 2026, contracted utilisation of 740.1MW on a pro forma basis, up from 244.8MW a year earlier, and a forward order book of 565.1MW. Net revenue rose 16% to AU$405.0 million and underlying EBITDA rose 15% to AU$248.8 million.

In its 3 November 2026 operational update for the first quarter of FY27, Goodman Group (ASX: GMG) reported development work in progress of AU$19.7 billion across 51 projects. Data centres made up 79% of that figure, and the global power bank was 6.6GW, of which 3.6GW is secured.

Megaport (ASX: MP1) reported in its FY26 results of 20 August 2026 that group annual recurring revenue increased 62% to AU$395.2 million, total revenue grew 37% to AU$312.2 million and EBITDA rose 24% to AU$77.1 million.

What Investors Should Watch

  • Whether the S-1 becomes effective, and when Anthropic sets its price range and share count.

  • The terms of any Australian retail allocation or broker offer, including eligibility and fees.

  • Each ASX company's next periodic report for contracted and built data centre capacity.

Conclusion

Anthropic has filed to list on Nasdaq under the proposed ticker ANT, with Reuters-reported first-half 2026 revenue of about US$16.3 billion and a net loss of about US$80.7 billion. For Australian investors, access would run through a US-market broker or a limited allocation, and ASX-listed companies such as NEXTDC, Goodman Group and Megaport offer a separate way to follow AI infrastructure demand. All of this remains subject to the filing becoming effective.
