Both benchmarks ended lower, and each tracks its own list of constituent shares.

NEXTDC Limited: A National Data-Centre Network

NEXTDC Limited describes itself as an ASX 100-listed technology company delivering hyperscale, colocation and edge data centre solutions. Its website lists data centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Darwin, along with regional sites and an expanding presence in New Zealand, Japan and Malaysia.

The company states that its facilities provide power, cooling, security and connectivity for cloud platform providers, enterprise and government customers. Its FY26 annual report says contracted utilisation reached 740MW at the end of the reporting period. NEXTDC also states that it has AI-ready facilities designed for high-density graphics processing unit workloads.

Goodman Group: Warehouses, Power Bank and Data Centres

Goodman Group describes itself as a provider of essential infrastructure that owns, develops and manages logistics properties and data centres in major global cities. Its 2026 annual report says that, as at 30 June 2026, it owned or managed 446 properties across 13 countries.

Goodman reports a global data-centre power bank of 6.6 GW, including 3.6 GW of secured power. The group offers powered shell, turnkey and fully operated colocation options, and says its customers include the world's largest hyperscale and colocation providers supporting cloud and AI inference deployments.

Scope and Risk Context for Data-Centre Exposure

The two companies offer different forms of data-centre exposure. ASX company data lists NEXTDC in the Information Technology sector and Goodman Group in Real Estate, reflecting Goodman's wider logistics property base. A move in either share price can therefore reflect factors well beyond data centres.

Goodman's own materials identify power, land, planning and capital as critical constraints in data-centre development. Its first-quarter FY27 operational update also refers to securing contractors and long-lead equipment to support energisation and delivery schedules. NEXTDC lists several sites as in planning or development.
