Deep Yellow Pushes Back Tumas Investment Decision While Construction Carries On

Key points
Deep Yellow Limited has dropped its goal of reaching a Final Investment Decision (FID) on the Tumas Project in the fourth quarter of 2026, pointing to soft equity markets.
Building work in Namibia is moving forward, with roughly 170 tonnes of reinforcing steel in place and concrete pours under way.
Four local contracts totalling N$42.1 million (AU$3.7 million) have been awarded, and the project optimisation and refreshed valuation are close to done.
Investment timetable revised
Deep Yellow Limited (ASX: DYL) updated the market on 16 October 2026 about its flagship Tumas Uranium Project in Namibia, advising that the FID will now come later than Q4 2026. The company explained that current equity market conditions do not favour making the decision within the original window. It nonetheless stays committed to delivering Tumas, which it calls a world-class greenfields uranium development.
Deep Yellow plans to keep construction moving while it works on funding. Managing Director and CEO Greg Field said tough equity markets are limiting financing choices for uranium developers, so waiting for better conditions before the FID is the sensible course.
Work on site continues
Even with the new timeline, activity at Tumas is advancing on several fronts. Civil works began safely and on schedule, and two concrete contractors are now operating on site. About 170 tonnes of reinforcing steel have been fitted. The foundations for all seven Counter Current Decantation (CCD) thickeners, along with the clarifier centre boss, have been prepared and signed off for pouring, and concrete campaigns have started.
Progress is under way in the clarification, leaching and beneficiation areas, and excavation for the Run-of-Mine (ROM) bin is finished. In Swakopmund, off-site manufacture of Retained Earth wall panels carries on, with 26% already cast. The company said current civil and concrete spending is covered entirely by existing cash, so construction and de-risking can proceed ahead of the FID.
Local contracts and approvals
Four support contracts have gone to Namibian businesses, worth N$42.1 million (AU$3.7 million) in total, covering fuel, raw water, waste management and dust suppression.
Environmental Clearance Certificates for the Tumas project area, as well as its powerline and water pipeline, were renewed on 2 October 2026 and stay valid through September 2029.
Deep Yellow also noted that 440 contractors and employees have finished inductions on health and safety, environmental obligations, radiation and fatality prevention management.
Revised economics to follow
The company is close to finishing its optimisation study and updated value model for Tumas. Once the assessment is complete, a full project update will detail the economics and development approach. Deep Yellow Limited shares traded at AU$0.832, a rise of AU$0.017, or 2.147%, based on the market data provided.
