Highlights:

  • Rox Resources reaches 39% processing plant completion, keeping its mid-2027 gold production target intact.
  • Underground development exceeds expectations as United North approaches its first production drilling milestone.
  • Fresh debt funding strengthens liquidity, supporting the next phase of Youanmi's development.

Rox Resources Accelerates Youanmi Gold Mine Development

Rox Resources Limited (ASX: RXL), a Western Australian gold exploration and development company, provided an update on 12 October 2026 outlining the latest developments at its fully owned Youanmi Gold Mine. The announcement highlighted steady progress across construction and underground mining operations, with the processing facility now 39% complete. Underground development also continued to exceed scheduled targets, strengthening the company's progress towards commencing gold production in mid-2027.

Construction and Underground Mining Gain Momentum

Development of the one-million-tonne-per-annum processing facility progressed throughout September, with structural installations, concrete foundations and equipment preparation advancing across multiple areas.

Key operational developments included:

  • Processing plant construction reached 39%, with several major equipment components already in transit.
  • Underground mining advanced 566 metres during September, outperforming planned development rates.
  • Ore development on United North's first two levels was completed, enabling preparations for production drilling.
  • Construction of the tailings storage facility commenced, while the accommodation camp became fully operational.

Debt Funding Strengthens Financial Position

Rox completed financial close on its AU$350 million debt package and secured an initial AU$90.2 million drawdown in early October.

Its cash balance stood at AU$59.0 million on 30 September 2026, declining AU$93.7 million from June as development expenditure accelerated. Following the initial drawdown, available cash increased to AU$149.2 million.

FY2026 Annual Results Reflect Higher Development Spending

According to its annual report released on 17 September 2026, Rox recorded a net loss after tax of AU$34.95 million for FY2026, compared with AU$18.18 million in FY2025.

Mine development expenses increased to AU$18.95 million from AU$0.79 million, reflecting the company's transition towards production. Meanwhile, cash holdings reached AU$152.67 million at 30 June 2026, compared with AU$50.48 million a year earlier, supported by capital raising activities.

The company's feasibility study outlined average annual gold production of approximately 117,000 ounces over an initial 6.8-year mine life.

Outlook: First Gold Remains the Key Milestone

Rox remains focused on delivering its first gold in mid-2027, supported by continued underground development, processing infrastructure construction and exploration activities. Although funding progress and construction milestones provide greater project certainty, cost management, commissioning performance and adherence to development schedules remain critical. Successful execution could position Rox for its transition into commercial gold production, with management pursuing longer-term production growth.
