Latitude Group Holdings Delivers Strong Half-Year Earnings, Announces Higher Interim Dividend Source: Kapitales Research

Highlights:

  • Latitude's improved profitability signals stronger momentum, although rising credit risks remain a concern.
  • Record loan receivables and improved lending margins support earnings growth across operations.
  • Higher fully franked dividend strengthens shareholder returns amid evolving consumer credit conditions.

Latitude Reports Improved Half-Year Financial Performance

Latitude Group Holdings Limited (ASX: LFS), an Australian consumer finance company, released its half-year financial results on 21 August 2026, reporting stronger earnings, expanding lending activities and improved operating efficiency for the six months ended 30 June 2026.

Statutory net profit after tax from continuing operations reached AU$54.4 million, representing a 37% increase from AU$39.7 million in 1H25. Meanwhile, cash net profit after tax rose 39.2% to AU$64.3 million, reflecting stronger lending margins and disciplined expense management.

Revenue Growth and Lending Expansion Strengthen Earnings

Latitude's total operating income increased 7.4% to AU$437.8 million, supported by an 8.1% improvement in net interest income to AU$428.1 million.

Gross loan receivables climbed to AU$7.27 billion, reaching their highest level in six years as customer borrowing activity continued expanding.

Key financial developments included:

  • Lending activity: New business volumes increased 3.8% to AU$4.41 billion, supported by higher credit card spending.
  • Interest margins: Net interest margin improved by 27 basis points to 11.95%, benefiting from lower funding costs.
  • Cost efficiency: Cash operating expenses declined 1.8% to AU$180.8 million, reflecting productivity improvements.

The Money Division recorded stronger personal loan receivables, while increased customer spending supported growth across the Pay Division.

Credit Quality Pressures Present Challenges

Despite improving profitability, Latitude experienced higher credit losses as borrowing costs and household financial pressures influenced repayment behaviour.

Net charge-offs increased to AU$152.0 million from AU$130.1 million in 1H25, while the proportion of receivables overdue by at least 90 days reached 1.74%.

Management maintained that credit performance remained within established portfolio risk settings.

Latitude Announces Higher Shareholder Dividend

Supported by stronger earnings, Latitude declared a fully franked interim dividend of 5.50 cents per share, compared with 4.00 cents in the corresponding period.

The dividend is scheduled for payment on 22 October 2026, reflecting the company's commitment to shareholder distributions.

Outlook: Strategic Investment Supports Future Growth

Latitude continues prioritising technology modernisation, artificial intelligence integration and expanded lending partnerships to improve customer engagement and operational productivity.

Its growing receivables portfolio and improved funding arrangements provide opportunities for further earnings development. However, rising credit losses and economic uncertainty could constrain profitability.

Looking ahead, maintaining lending discipline, managing repayment risks and sustaining operating margins will remain essential to supporting financial performance throughout FY26.
