Mirrabooka Investments Reports AU$13 Million Profit and 14 Cents in Fully Franked Dividends

Mirrabooka Investments Reports AU$13 Million Profit and 14 Cents in Fully Franked Dividends Source: Kapitales Research

Highlights:

  • Annual profit increased to AU$13.0 million from AU$7.9 million in the previous financial year.
  • Total fully franked dividends reached 14.0 cents per share, including a special dividend.
  • Portfolio value declined to AU$635.4 million as weaker performance weighed on annual investment returns.

Introduction

Mirrabooka Investments Limited (ASX: MIR) reported higher annual earnings for the financial year ended 30 June 2026, while its investment portfolio faced a challenging market environment. The company’s 2026 Annual Report, lodged on 28 August 2026, outlined an increase in profit, improved investment income and a higher total dividend. However, its portfolio return remained negative amid market volatility and valuation pressure across several growth-oriented holdings.

Annual Profit Rises to AU$13 Million

According to the annual report, net profit after tax increased to AU$13.0 million in FY2026, compared with AU$7.9 million in FY2025. Income from investments rose to AU$13.4 million from AU$10.7 million, while the trading portfolio contributed AU$1.4 million, up from AU$0.5 million a year earlier.

Income from the company’s options portfolio also strengthened, reaching AU$2.1 million compared with AU$0.6 million in the previous year. Realised gains from profitable investment sales, after tax, totalled AU$20.4 million, lower than the AU$26.5 million recorded in FY2025.

The company maintained its final dividend at 6.5 cents per share and declared an additional special dividend of 3.0 cents per share. Together with the interim dividend of 4.5 cents, total distributions for FY2026 amounted to 14.0 cents per share, fully franked.

Portfolio Returns Face Market Pressure

Despite higher earnings, Mirrabooka’s investment portfolio experienced a difficult year. Its total portfolio return was negative 10.8% including franking, while the portfolio return before franking was negative 12.0%. The total portfolio, including cash, stood at AU$635.4 million at 30 June 2026, down from AU$746.9 million a year earlier.

The report attributed market challenges to factors including geopolitical uncertainty, inflation pressures, higher energy prices and weaker consumer confidence. Valuation declines among several higher-growth holdings, particularly technology-related businesses, also affected performance.

Mirrabooka noted that its limited exposure to mining companies contributed to its underperformance relative to resource-heavy parts of the market. It continues to focus on selected small and medium-sized Australian and New Zealand companies, seeking sustainable earnings growth and long-term dividend returns.

Outlook and Investment Strategy

The company said short-term market visibility remained limited but maintained its focus on businesses with durable competitive advantages, financial strength and the potential to grow earnings over time. It does not provide a forecast for future investment results.

Conclusion

Mirrabooka Investments delivered stronger annual profit and maintained its commitment to fully franked dividends despite a challenging investment environment. Future performance will depend on the results of its portfolio companies and broader economic and market conditions.
