Source: Kapitales Research
Highlights
A seven-year agreement worth AU$43 million has been signed with US-based healthcare provider Virtua Health.
The contract covers a unified enterprise imaging solution incorporating viewing, workflow, archiving and cardiology capabilities.
Implementation planning will begin immediately, with the system rollout targeted for late Q2 or early Q3 of calendar year 2027.
Pro Medicus Limited (ASX: PME), a healthcare informatics company, announced on 21 October 2026 that its wholly owned US subsidiary, Visage Imaging, Inc., had secured a seven-year contract valued at AU$43 million with Virtua Health. Based in southern New Jersey, Virtua Health provides healthcare services through five hospitals and has approximately 15,000 colleagues and 3,000 affiliated doctors and clinicians.
The agreement strengthens Pro Medicus’ presence in the US healthcare technology market and expands the adoption of its cloud-based medical imaging solutions. The contract operates under a transaction-based licensing model, providing potential upside depending on platform usage. At the time of writing, Pro Medicus shares were trading at AU$193.17, up AU$8.34 or 4.51%.
Visage 7 Platform to Unify Enterprise Imaging
Under the agreement, Virtua Health will implement the cloud-based Visage 7 Enterprise Imaging Platform across its operations. The solution combines four products: Visage 7 Viewer, Visage 7 Workflow, Visage 7 Open Archive and Visage 7 Cardiology Imaging.
The platform is designed to bring medical imaging capabilities together within a unified system. As part of the deployment, Visage Imaging will migrate Virtua Health’s existing picture archiving and communication system (PACS) archives to Visage 7 Open Archive.
The arrangement will also enable enterprise-wide distribution of medical images through integration with Virtua Health’s electronic health record (EHR) system. This approach is intended to consolidate imaging functions and support access to medical images across the healthcare organisation.
Cloud Deployment and Implementation Timeline
Pro Medicus stated that planning for the implementation would commence immediately, using Visage Imaging’s established cloud-based deployment process. The system is targeted to go live in late Q2 or early Q3 of calendar year 2027.
The inclusion of cardiology imaging is a notable element of the agreement, extending the platform beyond core viewing, workflow and archiving functions. Pro Medicus Chief Executive Officer Dr Sam Hupert said Virtua Health had selected the company’s fully cloud-based platform and cardiology offering to establish a unified enterprise imaging solution.
The company also highlighted continued demand for its broader integrated product suite, which combines its core imaging products with additional specialist applications.
Conclusion
The AU$43 million Virtua Health agreement represents a significant multi-year contract for Pro Medicus, supporting its expansion in the US healthcare technology sector. The cloud-based deployment and transaction-linked licensing structure provide an opportunity to strengthen the company’s enterprise imaging business, with implementation expected to progress through 2027.
