  • PolyNovo faces a leadership transition after nearly eight years of substantial revenue growth.
  • Diverging ASX share prices highlight contrasting investor reactions to the executive move.

Vitrafy Announces Key Leadership Appointment

Vitrafy Life Sciences Limited (ASX: VFY) announced on 20 October 2026 that Jan Gielen, currently Chief Financial Officer of PolyNovo Limited (ASX: PNV), will join the company as its new CFO on 1 February 2027.

Following the announcement, Vitrafy shares traded around AU$2.750, reflecting a gain of approximately 1.48%. Meanwhile, PolyNovo shares traded at AU$0.897, registering a decline of approximately 2.45%, highlighting contrasting market movements following the leadership announcement.

Experienced Executive Brings Strong Growth Credentials

Gielen brings over 20 years of financial leadership experience across healthcare, medical technology, software and expanding businesses. Since joining PolyNovo in December 2018, he has supported significant operational and financial expansion.

Key achievements during his tenure include:

  • Revenue Growth: PolyNovo's annual revenue increased from AU$13.7 million in FY19 to AU$150 million in FY26.
  • Global Expansion: The company broadened its international presence, making its medical technologies accessible to patients in over 50 countries.
  • Operational Development: Manufacturing capacity expanded alongside new product launches from the NovoSorb platform.

His experience could strengthen Vitrafy's financial oversight as it advances its international operations.

PolyNovo Begins Search for Financial Leadership

PolyNovo confirmed that Gielen will remain with the company until 15 January 2027 to facilitate an orderly transition. The company has appointed an external recruitment firm to identify an interim CFO while conducting a comprehensive search for a permanent replacement. At Vitrafy, Gielen will succeed Simon Martin, who will continue supporting management for six months, with a possible six-month extension.

Outlook: Leadership Changes Create New Opportunities

Vitrafy's appointment comes as the company develops its cryopreservation technology, combining proprietary Guardion hardware with its LifeChain cloud-based software platform. Gielen's financial and international expansion experience could support future commercial development, although execution remains critical.

For PolyNovo, maintaining operational momentum while appointing a suitable successor will be important. Investors will likely monitor both companies' leadership transitions, financial performance and strategic progress in the coming months.
