FY26 Results Support Growth Strategy

Vulcan Steel reported revenue of NZ$1.159 billion for FY26, up 22% from the previous year. Adjusted EBITDA increased 16% to NZ$130 million, while adjusted net profit after tax rose 22% to NZ$22 million. Annual sales volumes climbed 18% to 252,820 tonnes, reflecting a return to volume growth and the contribution from Roofing Industries, acquired on 1 October 2025. The company declared a total FY26 dividend of NZ7.0 cents per share, compared with NZ6.0 cents in FY25. Management also highlighted its customer-service performance, reporting a 98% delivery-in-full-on-time rate across orders during FY26.

Outlook and Strategic Priorities

For FY27 and FY28, Vulcan plans to pursue organic growth through stronger customer service and margin improvement, while continuing to invest in Roofing Industries and its network of hybrid sites.

Management said New Zealand's economy was beginning to recover, supported by improving business confidence, construction and exports. However, inflation, energy costs and global uncertainty remain risks. In Australia, higher interest rates and household expenses could constrain spending, although infrastructure investment and population growth offer support. Vulcan expects to release its FY27 half-year results in mid-February 2027.

Conclusion

Vulcan Steel's first-quarter FY27 trading update showed stronger revenue, earnings and sales volumes alongside lower net debt. While the operating environment remains challenging, management is focused on improving margins, integrating its roofing business and positioning the company to benefit from a gradual economic recovery.
