DeSoto Resources Limited: Strategic Refocus Following Northern Territory Drilling
DeSoto Resources Limited (ASX: DES) is focused on identifying and advancing gold and critical mineral opportunities. Recent drilling at the Spectrum Project in the Northern Territory involved ten RC and diamond drill holes totaling 4,388 metres. While drilling intersected sulphide-rich zones and returned isolated gold, copper, zinc, and rare earth element intercepts, overall assay results were modest and did not meet the company’s thresholds for continued investment. The results nonetheless confirmed geological complexity and hydrothermal activity within the broader Fenton Shear Zone.
In light of these outcomes, DeSoto has decided to cease further exploration expenditure in the Northern Territory and will actively evaluate divestment or joint venture options to unlock value from these assets. The company will now concentrate its exploration strategy on its Siguiri Basin Projects in Guinea, West Africa, where it believes stronger potential exists to generate shareholder value through focused capital allocation and project prioritisation
