Saturn Metals (ASX: STN) has reported outstanding results from column leach metallurgical testing at its 100%-owned Apollo Hill Gold Project in Western Australia. The tests on near-surface oxide and transitional materials delivered an impressive average gold recovery of 86% over 95 days, significantly exceeding the 75% assumption in prior economic assessments. Rapid leach kinetics saw 86% of recoveries achieved in just 30 days, while reagent consumption remained minimal—cyanide at 0.47kg/t and lime at a negligible 0.003kg/t.
The strong recoveries across a broad grade range, coupled with excellent percolation and low cement needs, reinforce Apollo Hill’s suitability for low-cost, scalable heap leach processing. These results highlight potential for improved project economics during early mining stages and support the case for applying lower cut-off grades. This development is a major step forward in Saturn’s pre-feasibility studies, enhancing the project's economic viability and positioning Apollo Hill for efficient gold production.
