Thunderbird Resources Launches Drilling at Surprise Creek Uranium Project

Sep 29, 2025

Thunderbird Resources Limited (ASX: THB) reported that its partner, Mustang Energy Corp., has initiated a 2,000-meter diamond drilling campaign at the Surprise Creek Uranium-Copper Project, located in Canada’s Athabasca Basin. The program targets extensions of previously intersected high-grade uranium mineralisation, including results of 2.1 meters at 4.37% U₃O₈ from just 57 meters depth. Surface sampling by Thunderbird has also confirmed grades up to 7.98% U₃O₈, highlighting strong exploration potential.

Under the joint venture terms, Mustang can secure up to an 80% interest in the project through staged exploration spending and share consideration, with Thunderbird retaining a 20% stake and a royalty interest. Executive Chairman Mike Haynes emphasized the project’s strategic location within the world’s premier uranium province and the company’s advantage of being free-carried during early drilling phases. With investor sentiment improving in the uranium sector, Surprise Creek presents significant discovery potential
