ASX 200 Closed Higher By 0.31%; Lifted By Consumer Staples Sector

By the end of the trading session on 17 August 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.31% and settled at 7,127.70. Out of 11 sectors, 6 sectors closed higher along with the ASX 200.

The Consumer Staples and Consumer Discretionary sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained 1.73% and 1.40% in their index value. On the other hand, the Healthcare and Energy sectors were the top 2 losing sectors, declined 0.83% and 0.59% in their index values.

Super Retail Group Limited (ASX: SUL) and Brambles Limited (ASX: BXB) were the top gainers with 5.625% and 5.084% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, PointsBet Holdings Limited (ASX: PBH) and Novonix Limited (ASX: NVX) were the top losers, with a 7.693% and 6.485% drop in share prices, respectively.
