ASX/200 Closed Lower by 0.27%, Dragged down by Consumer Discretionary

By the end of trading session on 07 October 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.27% lower at 8,956.80. Out of 11 sectors, 10 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Materials was the top-gaining sector, gaining 0.04% in it’s value. On the other hand, Consumer Discretionary and Telecommunication Services were the top-losing sectors, losing 1.16% and 1.08% in their values

Greatland Resources Limited (ASX: GGP) and Codan Limited (ASX: CDA) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 9.580% and 4.871% in their stock prices. On the other hand,  Catalyst Metals Limited (ASX: CYL) and GQG Partners Inc. (ASX: GQG) are the top-losing stocks, losing 6.863% and 6.105% in their stock prices.

  • In global markets, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 0.14%, while the S&P 500 gained 0.36% and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.71%. 
  • Meanwhile, the Hang Seng Index fell 0.67%, and the FTSE 100 traded flat.
