Estrella Resources ASX Shares Fall as AU$3 Million Nickel Divestment Refocuses Strategy

Estrella Resources ASX Shares Fall as AU$3 Million Nickel Divestment Refocuses Strategy Source: Kapitales Research

Highlights

  • Estrella will divest its nickel rights for total consideration of AU$3 million.
  • The company will receive 20 million Astral Resources shares valued at AU$0.150 each.
  • Management plans to increase its focus on manganese, copper and gold exploration in Timor-Leste.

AU$3 Million Divestment Puts Estrella in Focus

Estrella Resources Limited (ASX: ESR) came into focus on 6 October 2026 after announcing a binding agreement to sell its nickel rights across selected Western Australian tenements to Astral Resources NL. The company’s shares were trading at AU$0.025, down 7.4%, as investors assessed the strategic implications of the transaction and Estrella’s increasing focus on its Timor-Leste exploration portfolio.

The transaction covers Estrella’s nickel interests associated with the West Kambalda and Spargos tenements. Astral Resources will complete the acquisition through its wholly owned subsidiary, Mandilla Nickel Pty Ltd.

Astral Shares to Fund the Transaction

As consideration for the divestment, Estrella will receive 20 million fully paid ordinary shares in Astral Resources. The shares have been assigned a deemed issue price of AU$0.15 each, placing the total transaction value at AU$3 million.

Of the total consideration shares, 10 million will be subject to a voluntary six-month escrow period following completion. The deal is still conditional on necessary shareholder, regulatory and third-party approvals or waivers.

The structure allows Estrella to exit its direct nickel interests while continuing to retain potential exposure to future value creation through its Astral shareholding.

Timor-Leste Exploration Becomes a Bigger Priority

The divestment supports Estrella’s plan to direct greater attention toward its exploration assets in Timor-Leste. The company has already identified manganese mineralisation across several prospects and continues to advance work across the portfolio.

At the Ira Miri prospect, around 27,000 tonnes of material has been excavated as a bulk sample for a market appraisal exercise. Estrella is also pursuing copper mineralisation and evaluating broader copper-gold opportunities within its concession areas.

What Could Drive ESR Shares Next

Market attention may now turn toward completion of the Astral transaction and further progress in Timor-Leste. Advancement of the 27,000-tonne bulk sample, new exploration results and stronger definition of copper-gold prospects could become important future catalysts.

While ESR shares remain under pressure at AU$0.025, the AU$3 million divestment gives the company a more concentrated strategic direction and could help management prioritise assets with greater exploration potential.
