Kantra Copper Posts Fifth Straight Quarterly Output Rise as Cash Flow Jumps

Highlights:

  • Copper output for the September quarter grew 7.8% to 3,419 tonnes, the fifth successive quarterly increase.
  • Net group cash flow surged 71.6% from the prior quarter to AU$14.2 million, lifting the cash balance to AU$44.1 million.
  • Work on the Emily Star mine advanced, and new metallurgical test results improved the picture for the Coburn Copper Project.

Strong Quarter on Both Operations and Finances

Kantra Copper Limited (ASX: KAN) released its September 2026 quarterly report on October 21, 2026, showing higher copper output, stronger cash generation and steady progress across its development and exploration pipeline.

The company lifted production while keeping costs inside its full-year guidance. South Australia’s Kanmantoo Copper Mine remained the main source of operating cash flow, while Emily Star development and Coburn’s progress underpin its longer-term growth plans. Separately, Kantra shares were trading at AU$1.130, up AU$0.045 or 4.15%, per the market data supplied. That move is unrelated to the quarterly report.

Production and Costs

The company produced 3,419 tonnes of copper in the quarter, compared with 3,170 tonnes in the June quarter, a 7.8% rise. Output for the year to date totals 9,709 tonnes, which keeps Kantra on course for its 2026 guidance of 12,750 to 14,000 tonnes.

The company recorded an all-in sustaining cost (AISC) of AU$5.44 per pound of payable copper sold during the September quarter. The year-to-date figure of AU$5.78 per pound sits close to the bottom of the AU$5.75 to AU$6.25 guidance range. Revenue after treatment and refining charges grew 14.8% to AU$73.2 million. The gain came from larger payable copper sales and a higher realised copper price, partly offset by reduced gold by-product credits.

Cash Position

Operating mine cash flow rose 37.5% to AU$32.1 million, up from AU$23.3 million in the previous quarter, while net group cash flow increased 71.6% to AU$14.2 million. Unrestricted cash grew by AU$11.9 million to AU$44.1 million, driven by better operating results, bigger payable copper sales and higher average realised prices.

The company also updated its 2026 major capital expenditure guidance to AU$15 million to AU$17 million, which now covers costs tied to the Coburn Pre-Feasibility Study and Emily Star development.

Emily Star and Coburn Projects Support Future Expansion

Kantra has sanctioned Emily Star as the third underground mining area at Kanmantoo, with surface portal construction commencing during the September quarter. The company expects stoping operations to begin in the second half of 2027.

At Coburn, metallurgical testing showed copper recoveries above 90% and gold recoveries above 50% when run through the existing Kanmantoo processing flowsheet. The results lower technical risk as the project moves through its Pre-Feasibility Study. The company continued underground drilling and regional exploration programmes to identify additional mineral resources and assess opportunities to extend the operating life of its mining assets.

Outlook

With output climbing, costs within guidance and cash balances growing, Kantra Copper heads into the final quarter of 2026 with its annual production target within reach.
