L1 Gold Fund Targets Expansion with AU$160 million Capital Raising

L1 Gold Fund Limited (ASX: LGF) has announced a non-underwritten institutional placement of up to approximately AU$160 million alongside a 1-for-3 non-renounceable entitlement offer. New shares will be issued at AU$2.25 each, matching the fund’s pre-tax NTA per share as of 20 August 2026. The proceeds are intended to expand investments across gold and precious-metals equities, particularly opportunities emerging from recent sector volatility.
LGF’s inaugural reporting period reflected challenging market conditions, with the portfolio returning 10.90% below its starting level through 30 June 2026 as gold prices and mining equities weakened. The company recorded a net loss after tax of AU$71 million, while pre-tax NTA stood at AU$1.7534 per share.
Momentum subsequently improved, with pre-tax NTA recovering to AU$2.25 per share by 20 August, 12.5% above the AU$2.00 IPO price. Management remains constructive on longer-term precious-metals opportunities, supported by central-bank demand, fiscal pressures and geopolitical uncertainty.
