Highlights

  • Sally Bruce will join REA’s board and its Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee.
  • She brings more than 35 years of experience in finance and technology.
  • REA provided no financial update or explanation for the 1.1% share decline.

REA Group Ltd (ASX: REA) said on 23 September 2026 that Sally Bruce will join its board as an independent non-executive director, effective 2 November 2026. REA shares were trading at AU$155.40, down 1.1%. The company’s announcement gives no explanation for the fall, so the price move cannot be attributed to the appointment.

A Career Across Finance and Technology

Bruce’s executive career includes leading AMP Bank as chief executive officer. At Culture Amp, she held the positions of chief operating officer and chief financial officer. She has also been chief financial officer of Business & Personal Banking at National Australia Bank and a division director at Macquarie Group.

Her current directorships are with Airwallex SVF Pty Ltd and QBE Australia Pacific. She chairs the Risk Committee at Airwallex SVF and the Risk and Capital Committee at QBE Australia Pacific. REA will appoint her to its Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee when she joins the board.

The Relevance for REA

REA is best known for its Australian property websites. Its operations also cover mortgage broking through Mortgage Choice, property data through PropTrack and technology that supports property transactions.

That range of businesses makes Bruce’s background relevant to the board’s oversight work. Her banking and finance experience may offer a useful perspective as directors review risks across REA’s activities. The announcement, however, did not set out any new strategy or say that her appointment would change the company’s operations.

REA chairman Hamish McLennan welcomed Bruce’s financial services experience and the breadth of skills she would bring to the board.

What Investors Can Watch

Bruce is scheduled to put herself forward for election at REA Group’s 2027 annual general meeting. Until then, shareholders can assess her contribution through the company’s future governance and business updates.

The appointment is the sole development covered by this announcement. It contains no earnings results, revised guidance or other financial figures that would explain the reported share price decline.
