AKORA Resources Appoints New CEO to Drive Bekisopa Project Forward

AKORA Resources Limited (ASX: AKO), an Australian mining company focused on high-grade iron ore projects in Madagascar, has appointed Peter Bird as its new Managing Director and CEO, effective 16 May 2025. Peter succeeds Paul Bibby, who is retiring after leading the company since its ASX listing in 2020. Bird, a seasoned geologist with executive roles at Rex Minerals, Zenith Minerals, and Asiamet Resources, brings strong expertise in mining operations, capital markets, and investor relations. He aims to secure strategic partnerships and funding for the Bekisopa Project, which holds a 194.7 Mt JORC Inferred Resource capable of producing a +68% Fe concentrate—ideal for low-emission green steelmaking. In the near term, AKORA plans a 2Mt per annum Stage 1 operation to generate cash flow. Paul Bibby will continue in an advisory role for a limited period to support a seamless transition in leadership.
