ASX: ION Strengthens Leadership to Accelerate Global Commercial Growth
Iondrive Limited (ASX: ION) has reinforced its executive leadership by appointing former BHP Head of Innovation, Dr Grant Caffery, as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 August 2026. The executive succession finalises a strategic leadership handover, positioning Iondrive to advance the commercial expansion of its proprietary IONSolv™ technology for critical minerals recovery. Outgoing CEO Lewis Utting will assume the newly created role of Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer, ensuring continuity across strategic partnerships, funding initiatives and global expansion. The strengthened leadership structure is designed to support operational execution while maintaining commercial momentum across North America, Australia and Europe.
The transition follows a period of strong commercial progress, including independently verified rare earth recovery results, an emerging funding pathway of up to US$15 million from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, expanding feedstock and offtake discussions, and enhancements to its pilot plant ahead of targeted wet commissioning in the fourth quarter of calendar 2026. Iondrive believes it has established a clear pathway toward its first commercial production by combining validated processing technology, government support and growing customer engagement. Management expects the strengthened executive team to accelerate deployment of the IONSolv™ platform and position the company as a significant participant in the global critical minerals recycling and circular economy.
