Ballymore Commences Drilling at Highly Prospective Maniopota Target
Ballymore Resources Limited (ASX: BMR) has launched its first-ever drilling campaign at the Maniopota polymetallic prospect in north Queensland, situated roughly 10 kilometres west of the Torpy’s prospect and to the south of Chillagoe. The Maniopota area forms part of an extensive hydrothermal system characterised by skarn-type alteration and lies along the same structural trend as the Red Dome and Mungana gold and base metal operations, exhibiting comparable geological features.
Broad-scale soil geochemistry has outlined a coherent polymetallic anomaly stretching over more than six kilometres, reinforced by strongly anomalous surface rock samples containing elevated levels of copper, lead, zinc, silver and gold. The exploration potential is further supported by geophysical interpretation, with airborne electromagnetic surveying identifying several conductive zones and reprocessed induced polarisation data highlighting areas of increased chargeability. Previous drilling at Maniopota, undertaken on a limited basis over 30 years ago, intersected shallow zones of high-grade base metal mineralisation. The current drilling program is designed to methodically assess overlapping geological, geochemical and geophysical targets. Concurrently, Ballymore has deployed a diamond drill rig at the Torpy’s prospect to advance evaluation of known high-grade silver–lead–zinc–indium mineralisation and to facilitate downhole geophysical investigations.
