Chariot Resources Limited (ASX: CC9) has provided an update on its Nigerian lithium acquisition, expanding the project footprint through the addition of a new licence area within the Fonlo project region. The inclusion of SSML 042553 enhances the company’s control over a key exploration zone already identified as highly prospective for lithium mineralisation. Importantly, the additional licence has been secured without increasing the overall acquisition consideration.
The company is also progressing plans to convert several small-scale mining licences into full mining leases prior to transferring them into the joint venture structure. This transition is expected to improve long-term tenure security and provide broader operational and mining rights across the portfolio.
Once completed, the portfolio is expected to comprise 11 mineral titles spanning roughly 257 square kilometres across the Fonlo, Gbugbu, Iganna, and Saki project areas in Nigeria. Chariot believes these developments will strengthen the project’s regulatory standing and support future exploration and development opportunities within the rapidly growing lithium market.
