HyTerra Limited (ASX: HYT) has reported elevated flowing hydrogen and helium gas shows from the McCoy 1 well within its Project Nemaha acreage. Real-time measurements taken during swabbing operations confirmed significant hydrogen and helium presence, with independent analyses verifying similar compositions from Sue Duroche 3, Blythe 13-20, and McCoy 1. Drilled to a depth of 5,562 ft (1,695 m), McCoy 1 marks HyTerra’s deepest and first non-twinned well, successfully completed on time and on budget.
The company plans a production test in 2026, post-winter, to appraise the dynamic flow characteristics and obtain representative gas compositions from the Precambrian basement formation. Preparatory work will include zonal isolation studies and equipment procurement. Executive Director Avon McIntyre expressed optimism about the results, noting that the confirmed hydrogen and helium flow further strengthen HyTerra’s geological model and exploration potential in the region.
