Lithium Universe Secures Global Rights to Breakthrough Silver Extraction Technology.

Lithium Universe Limited (ASX: LU7) has obtained exclusive global rights to Macquarie University’s Jet Electrochemical Silver Extraction (JESE) technology, designed for the efficient recovery of silver from photovoltaic solar panels. This low-voltage, dilute nitric acid process selectively removes silver without damaging silicon wafers, enabling high-purity metal recovery and preserving wafer integrity for reuse. Integrated with LU7’s Microwave Joule Heating Technology (MJHT), which cleanly separates glass and silicon from EVA, the combined system offers a complete and sustainable PV recycling solution.

Unlike conventional methods that destroy wafers and generate hazardous waste, JESE operates with reduced chemical hazards, lower energy consumption, and minimal waste. Each solar panel contains about 20 grams of silver, presenting a significant economic opportunity as global PV waste is projected to reach up to 78 million tonnes by 2050. This innovation positions LU7 at the forefront of clean technology, advancing circular economy and sustainability goals.
