Moab Minerals Limited (ASX: MOM) has announced the acquisition of 100% of Imbas Mining Pty Ltd, which holds the right to earn up to an 80% interest in the Sasare Gold and Copper Project in Zambia. Covering 51 km² within the Mwembeshi shear zone—a region well known for its gold and copper occurrences—the project hosts strong exploration potential based on an IOCG analogue model.
The southern section includes the historic Sasare Gold Mine, which produced about 12,500 ounces of gold between 1906 and 1942, and displays a 1.6 km quartz vein system with open-pit potential. The northern licence area includes the Mweze and Eagle Eye prospects, where historical drilling returned significant copper intercepts such as 52m at 2.72% Cu and 8m at 1.51% Cu. Located 370 km east-northeast of Lusaka with accessible infrastructure, Moab plans to fast-track exploration to define potential gold and copper resources across this highly prospective project.
