Nickel Industries Limited: Strategic Expansion and Sustainability Progress
Nickel Industries Limited (ASX: NIC) has strengthened its operational outlook following approval to increase its 2025 RKAB production quota from 9 million wmt to 10.5 million wmt, enabling immediate recommencement of ore sales from the Hengjaya Mine. This approval follows endorsement of a five-year AMDAL, which supports long-term environmental compliance and paves the way for an anticipated 2026 RKAB uplift to 19 million wmt. The AMDAL introduces Indonesia’s first in-pit tailings storage system, incorporating a pipeline linking ENC HPAL and Hengjaya for lower-impact tailings handling and transport efficiencies. Nickel Industries continues transitioning from traditional NPI production toward battery-grade materials, supported by its interests in the HNC HPAL project and the upcoming ENC commissioning. With ENC expected to deliver around 72,000 tonnes of nickel annually across MHP, sulphate and cathode products, the company is positioning itself as a leading low-carbon supplier to the global EV supply chain.
