Omega Oil & Gas Moves Canyon-3 Closer to Key Exploration Targets
Omega Oil & Gas Limited (ASX: OMA) continues to advance drilling at the Canyon-3 appraisal well in Queensland’s Taroom Trough as part of its fully funded 2026/27 campaign. Operations remain on schedule, with drilling reaching 2,570 metres and important initial results anticipated within two weeks.
Located approximately 10 kilometres southeast of Canyon-1/1H, Canyon-3 is targeting the prospective Permian formation, expected at around 3,200 metres. The well is planned to reach a total depth of nearly 3,900 metres and will provide further insight into hydrocarbon presence and reservoir characteristics across Omega’s eastern acreage.
The results will be assessed alongside Canyon-4, earlier wells and seismic data to better understand an area covering roughly 200 square kilometres. Existing modelling suggests this zone could potentially accommodate around 75 development wells, strengthening the exploration significance of Omega’s Taroom Trough campaign.
