OncoSil Medical Files FDA Application, Advancing U.S Commercial Opportunity
OncoSil Medical Limited (ASX: OSL) has taken an important step toward entering the U.S. healthcare market by submitting its Humanitarian Device Exemption (HDE) application to the U.S. FDA for the OncoSil™ device to treat distal cholangiocarcinoma (dCCA). The application has now entered the FDA review phase, with a decision anticipated within approximately 45 days.
If approved, OncoSil™ would become the first and only FDA-approved Class III medical device specifically indicated for dCCA in the United States, providing access to the world's largest medical device market and marking the company's first commercial regulatory approval in the country. The achievement reflects the strength of OncoSil's clinical evidence and regulatory strategy while creating a foundation for future commercial expansion. The company believes the device could address a significant unmet medical need by offering a targeted treatment option for patients with this rare and aggressive bile duct cancer, where existing therapeutic alternatives remain limited.
